ZTerm is useful for transferring files between old Macs if the only other means is a floppy disk.

Notes

The following notes concern a Power Macintosh 7100/66 sending files to a Power Macintosh 5300c.

  • The maximum speed with ZModem seems to be 115200 if hardware flow control or XON/XOFF is enabled. This results in a transfer speed of about 8780 bytes per second.
  • If you run a half-assed System Software installation from copying the System Folder from a Disk Tools diskette to the hard disk, ZTerm will blow up upon launch before the main window appears.
  • It does load under Copland, but it can't find any serial ports.
