This CD contains the latest system software and many other useful items for your Power Macintosh computer. Using this CD, you can:
- Install system software version 7.1.2 and system update 3.0 on your Power Macintosh computer. (See "Installing system software and the system update," at the end of this document.)
- Install upgrade card software to update the system software used with the Power Macintosh Upgrade Card. (See the Power Macintosh Upgrade Card Read Me file for installation instructions.)
- Explore the Demo Apps folder, which contains a variety of demonstration programs for you to try. Some are standard Macintosh programs optimized for Power Macintosh computers, others are specially designed for Power Macintosh computers. Because these programs are demonstration versions, some features are disabled.
- Explore the Apple Extras folder, which contains several application programs and control panels for you to try on your Power Macintosh computer.
- Tour Macintosh Basics, a brief introduction to the Macintosh that helps you get started using your computer.
- Use HyperCard Player, an application program that lets you balance your checkbook, play games, organize addresses, and accomplish many other tasks. Read "What is HyperCard?" in the HyperCard Player 2.2 folder for more information.
This CD also contains:
- The Utilities folder, which includes Apple HD SC Setup, an alias to Disk Copy 4.2, Disk First Aid, Movie Player, Movie Play, and SimpleText.
IMPORTANT: If you experience problems with your computer's system software, you may need to start your computer from this CD. Follow these steps:
- Make sure the Power Macintosh CD icon appears on your desktop.
- Choose Restart from the Special menu.
- Immediately press and hold down the "c" letter key. Release the key after the computer starts up.
IMPORTANT: If you are not able to start up your computer from your internal hard disk when the Power Macintosh CD is in the CD-ROM drive, open the Startup Disk control panel and make sure your internal hard disk is selected as the startup disk.
