This text file summarizes the changes in Windows 3.11.<br />

Windows 3.11 is a file and driver refresh; it contains no new<br />
functionality. It includes revised drivers and changes intended<br />
to fix specific problems with six core files (see Updated Core<br />
Files, below). It also contains Novell NetWare support files.<br />

If you do not need the new drivers or Novell files, or if you<br />
are not experiencing the problems described below with the core<br />
files listed, you do not need this refresh.<br />

KRNL386.EXE: Minimal changes were made to KRNL386.EXE to allow Windows to<br />
more gracefully shut down after installing some third-party software that<br />
calls for Windows to shut down before returning focus to Program Manager.<br />
<br />
GDI.EXE: Changes were made to GDI.EXE to assist independent software vendors<br />
currently writing graphics applications, especially those that call the<br />
"draw rectangle function." This minimizes the number of API calls the<br />
programmer needs to write and maximizes the system resources available<br />
when using graphics-intensive applications.<br />

COMMDLG.DLL: Changes were may to COMMDLG.DLL to allow Windows-based<br />
applications on diskless workstations to use common dialog boxes.<br />
<br />
PSCRIPT.DRV and UNIDRV.DLL: These files were updated to eliminate a font<br />
enumeration conflict that occurred with many word processors when 60 or<br />
more fonts are used in a single document.<br />
<br />
VTDA.386: The updated VTDA.386 solves a very small percentage of timer-<br />
related problems that occur when starting an MS-DOS-based application under<br />
Windows on a Novell NetWare network.<br />
